“We were both medical students at AUB when we first met in 1980. Medical school at AUB brought us closer to each other and eventually, with our career paths in the US and our mutual love, we raised our beautiful daughter and son. Twenty-five years later, we are back in our academic, clinical and administrative roles at our dear alma matter… AUB: the place to be!” Samia [Mo is Executive Vice President for Medical Affairs and Global Strategy and the Raja N. Khuri Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Samia heads AUBMC’s Multiple Sclerosis Center and the Abu-Haidar Neuroscience Institute. Salma Y. Nashabe, PhD '83 & Rabih S. Talhouk, PhD '83
“We met summer 1981 at FAFS. A few months later we were separated by distance as I moved to AREC for a year and Rabih stayed on campus for his graduate studies. Back then there was no possibility to communicate except through letters. Our professors (mostly Dr. Musa Nimah) and teaching instructors carried our letters back and forth!” Salma [Salma is a professor and chairperson in FAFS’s Department of Landscape Design and Ecosystem Management; Rabih is a professor in the biology department.]
“We have known each other since school days at the College Protestant Francais in Beirut. We started dating in 1983, were there for each other’s commencement ceremonies at AUB in 1986 and 1987, and got married in 1992.” Yusra and George
Dean of the Fauclty of Health Sciences since 2008, Iman received his MPH and DrPH in occupational health from The Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. He and Helen met as students at AUB.
“We graduated from AUB not only with diplomas but also with life partners. In February 1979, Salma and I met on the stairs to the AUB cafeteria. We were introduced by a mutual friend to whom we will forever be grateful.” Nazem
