A 1969 visit to London's Hyde Park inspires an AUB student to establish a Speaker's Corner at AUB to create a space where students can freely express their views.
In 1950 the Civic Welfare League introduces the Miss AUB (beauty queen) contest at its annual garden party fundraiser. The contest continued until 1971.
AUB's Van Dyck Collection has preserved 1,419 rare and extinct birds of Lebanon.
AUB wins the Green Mind Corporate Social Responsibility Award in 2014.
AUBMC doctors conduct the first virtually assisted surgery in the region, and the third outside of the United States, in April 2014.
On August 14, 1990, AUB holds its first open-air commencement in ten years.
Dancing doctors? "The Show Must Go On" was a musical extravaganza put on at West Hall by the Faculty of Medicine, Class of '82. The impressario was "choreographer" Waleed Doany (MD '82).

The Institute for Computer Studies opens in 1984 with 56 students enrolled. It offered a three-year program with a BS degree in computer studies.
US President Lyndon Johnson visits the AUB campus in 1962. President Jimmy Carter spoke at the Issam Fares Institute's Disguished Peacemakers Lecture Series in 2009.
