The first cash contribution to the SPC endowment is made in 1863 by an anonymous resident of Jewett City, Connecticut, who donated a gold dollar coin.

In 1865 SPC's George Post uses inhalation anesthesia in Lebanon for the first time by administering chloroform to a dog.

The AUB Choir is the product of one man's vision and an abundance of AUB musical talent. In 1993 organist Robert Brenton Betts revives and expands upon the AUB Choir after a decade of dormancy. Dr. Betts was also director of the Civilization Sequence Program.
