For some, AUB is not just a great place to study and work, but the beginning of a love story. Compiled here are photos and stories of married couples who met at AUB. Did you meet at AUB?
Ibrahim and I had crossed each other paths several times during AUB but we never talked!
First time he saw me was in a Yearbook committee meeting, which I can’t recall. The next time, he said that I gave him his graduation gown during 2010 photoshoot.
Ironically, we were in same school but also never talked.
Yet serendipitously due to AUB common friends in 2014, we met and talked in Riyadh. AUB memories was our common reason that made us strike a conversation.
And luckily after all these years, we made our wedding photoshoot in AUB campus as a start of our new life together.
Despite our differences and opposite personalities, we chose to love each other and be together. When Ameen was in his senior year in Engineering, I was in my sophomore year in Medical Laboratory Sciences (2010). We met through some common friends. Our friendship was fluctuating until we got together in May 2012. One year later, we got engaged. By that time, I had my bachelor degree (BS 2013) and Ameen was pursuing his Master's degree in Engineering. In May 2015, I got my Master's degree in Public Health. Two months later, July 30th, we got married. We live now in Indiana, USA. AUB will always stay our special place and home where we shared lots of love and memories. For that, we are grateful.
We graduated the same year but got introduced two years later in 2005. That year 2015, we visited the Green Oval and West Hall with our three girls who decided that "mummy and daddy loved each other here and sat under this tree, the old West Hall tree." We introduced our girls to many of the security girls who are still there and who recognized us at once. Walking there with our girls was just so emotional.
Weam and I met on the third day of our AUB journey in September 2007 at the Office of Financial Aid in West Hall.
Since that day, a friendship flourished between us and resulted in us getting married on July 13th, 2014.
It is because of AUB that I found the love of my life, and for that I am forever grateful for our AUB.
Met on campus in 1990, married in 1996 and after twenty years of happiness, two wonderful boys and lots of fights over the temperature in the house ;-) we still make sure we cross the continent and visit the wonderful AUB campus every year. Not only husband and wife but also Best Friends Forever, that is what an AUB couple is!
We met in our sophomore year (1956-57), classmates and then close friends until our graduations with MBA. Mary continued work at AUB while Jad had his own banking business. We got married in 1971 and were blessed with three children, Christiane, Mansour, and Antoine, all graduates of AUB too, who in turn continued their higher studies abroad.
