"Nayla and I met at AUB where she was taking preparatory courses for her MBA, whilst I was finishing my BBA. I was attending courses in cultural studies with her younger sister Nada who has a BS in chemistry from AUB, when Nayla and I started appreciating and liking one another. The relationship had a beautiful outcome. We’ve been happily married since July 12, 1972." Nabil

"First picture was taken at the annual AUB Engineering Ball in 1971, the other taken in 2014. We met in Jafet Library while I had my Math 201 book open in front of me. A good reason for an engineer to approach a first year statistics student, don't you think so? :)" Velma

“We both were students of the PSPA department (Political Studies) but interestingly enough we were never in the same class. If my memory serves me well, one day we happened to sit next to each other on the steps of the building facing the cafeteria. It might have been a gathering for "Speakers' Corner" or some other meeting. We started talking to each other and the rest is history....” Rula[Ashraf S. Ghani is the president of Afghanistan. Rula was recently named one of the world'smost influential people by TIME magazine.]

“We met at IC in the autumn of 1966. It was the year that IC admitted girls into the Baccalaureate class, i.e. Bacc II. We were in the same section and we were both striving for excellence, so we started studying together. When we continued through AUB for our BBA and then MBA, our friendship grew stronger, and our relationship matured into love. In 1973, we became “an item”. Sometime before that, some of our friends commented that we should have some sense and get together seriously. With the difference in religion, this was far from our minds. But certain things happen for a reason. We could not help it, and finally admitted that we were in love and not to be separated; come what may. In 1979, we got engaged, all difficulties were smoothed over, and here we are now happily married with three grown up children who are also happily married. As husband and wife, we run Gezairi Transport, a company I inherited from my father and our fundamental compatibility took the company to higher levels. Now, are trying to pass the company successfully along (we hope) to our children to carry on the legacy.” Mona

“We both attended AUB but at different times. However we met in Paris and it is the commonality of our AUB experience that provided us with yet another connection. AUB is known for nurturing life-long friendships and connections and the strength of this bond is one of its most enduring and defining qualities. We live in New Jersey and have three children, Joseph (25), Philip (24) and Karen (22). Both Philip and Karen attended a summer program at AUB.” Rola and Rashid
